During amalgam removals our office does everything possible to protect the patient from potentially harmful materials and aerosols that arise. The "Elephant" suction machine is one of those tools. An external suction that is placed in front of the doctor's workspace and the patient's mouth helps to draw out toxins that arise from removal of the amalgam fillings.
